Notice how the outside is layered over an internal structure to help give more structure. The first stage only slightly exposed to show the inter-stage connectors (red clips that snap onto the dark gray bars of the next stage). Clip / bar system is used to hold the three stages of the Saturn V together. You don’t see most of the first stage here, but it is mostly similar to the second stage in construction, but taller.
